User Guide.

In this section you get a brief overview of how to install and use the SCRAMBLECODE Integrated Development Environment (IDE). It includes a presentation of the user interface and the menu items with special emphasis on important features. Finally the tools for testing and license management are presented.

The IDE is a single unit, which contains all the necessary tools to edit, compile, test and debug your code. Each of these tools is a fully integrated part of the IDE. You don't need to install any other tools for your SCRAMBLECODE programming.

All parts of the IDE are designed to be simple and safe to use:

Easy to install

The IDE is a lightweight self-contained unit. Just download + unzip, and you are ready to go.

Easy to use

The built-in functionality is available as simple menu functions.

The IDE can easily handle big projects and large source files with fast syntax coloring and text/block editing. Projects and source code are saved as ordinary text files.

Some of the editor functions:

  • Find and replace functionality for files or selected text.
  • Symbol renaming (refactoring).
  • Symbol analysis (where used).
  • Code snippet insertion.

The fast compiler and the strict nature of the language allow for:

  • Fast syntax checking (error reporting).
  • Context sensitive symbol presentation (code completion).
  • Quick creation of targeted bytecode (compile+build).

Standalone testing

The integrated test bench can load and test your code. You don't have to involve your own host program.

Safe debugging

It is easy to use the integrated debugger to run, single-step and inspect your execution in great detail and in a safe manner, which can't be exploited by crackers.

Full documentation

All parts of the IDE (tools, menu functions etc) are fully documented, both as local help and on the Internet. Context sensitive F1 help is available for source code types, methods and library functions.
